**THERE IS NO HEALING MASS IN NOVEMBER**
Please read our Questions & Answers below for more information and answers to commonly asked questions.*Be sure to check our Calendar for actual dates as some Healing Masses may be cancelled or changed due to other liturgical events.
The Healing Mass is a bilingual Mass where the intention is for healing. You can come for physical, emotional, or spiritual healing for yourself or for someone else. Confessions are available. During the Mass, salt is blessed which is available for you to take home. When you enter, you are invited to write a prayer for healing on a slip of paper. These prayers are taken up to the altar during Mass. After the Mass, prayer teams are available for individual prayer. Lines form for the prayer stations where a trained prayer team will pray with you.
When someone sneezes, you say “bless you!” That is a very simple healing prayer. Our Lady of the Rosary has prayer teams who are trained in healing prayer for physical healing, emotional healing, spiritual healing, and deliverance. We listen to your needs and then pr ay in the name of Jesus Christ. It is Jesus who heals.
First, we want you to feel at ease. Jesus Himself welcomes you.
Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
The prayer team simply asks what you want Jesus to do for you. You can ask for healing that is physical, emotional, or spiritual. We will talk to you a bit about your needs so we know better what prayers we will lift up to Jesus.
The prayer ministers are volunteers. They are specially trained in the healing ministry using materials from the Christian Healing Ministries, an organization based in Jacksonville, Florida. Christian Healing Ministries was founded by Francis and Judith MacNutt. We can refer you to books and materials on the subject if you are interested. During prayer, the prayer ministers ask to be guided by the Holy Spirit.
We are disciples of Christ and by virtue of our Baptism and Confirmation we have all received a commission from Christ which includes healing the sick.
Mark 16: 15 and 18
He said to them, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. ...They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Luke 10:8-9
“Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you, cure the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.’”
You can bring others with you.
No. Prayer ministers do not heal, Jesus Christ personally heals with the power of His Holy Spirit. The prayer ministers are instruments of Christ's healing through prayer. Some people have received special gifts from the Holy Spirit allowing them to be more effective instruments for certain types of healing depending on the gift. We all have the ability to pray for healing for one another.
You do not have to be Catholic. In the early Church, Christians prayed for pagans they knew. When a pagan was healed in the name of Jesus, they wanted to know more about the faith. That is how Christianity grew so quickly even though there was persecution. So we pray for anyone who wants healing.
You can come as often as you need. You are encouraged to share your experiences with others. As you meet people who need healing, pray for them. Invite others to come with you to the Healing Mass and for individual prayer.
Jesus tells you to come to him.
John 6:35
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”
Jesus wants to heal you just as he wanted to heal the leper.
Luke 5:12-13
Now there was a man full of leprosy in one of the towns where he was; and when he saw Jesus, he fell prostrate, pleaded with him, and said, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.” Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I do will it. Be made clean.” And the leprosy left him immediately.
The prayer teams are not Confession. You do not have to share anything. Jesus already knows what you need. Although you can simply ask that we pray for your personal intentions, we enter more fully into your prayer if we at least know the general area of your concern. We are sensitive to your privacy and we have been trained to keep what we hear in confidence. We try to have teams that consist of both men and women so as to be more sensitive to your needs. If you still do not feel comfortable, it may be that you need to make an appointment to see a priest, a deacon, or a counselor. This can be done by contacting the parish office.
It is fine for you to pray for someone else. You can sit in “proxy” for someone who can not come. Jesus healed the servant of the Centurion in this way.
Matthew 8:8-13
The centurion said in reply, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.” … And at that very hour [his] servant was healed.

Matthew 9:37-38
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.”
